Office Profile

Brad P. Seitzinger
CLU, ChFC Managing Partner, Northwestern Mutual - Troy

Brad is a passionate, culture-driven leader with a desire for excellence. While attending the University of Evansville on a Division I cross country scholarship, Brad joined Northwestern Mutual in 1990 as a college intern. In 1992, Brad finished his senior year as the company’s number two intern in the nation. Upon graduation with a B.S. degree in Business Administration, Brad moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and joined the William S. Cochran Network

Office. He finished his first year ranked in the Top 10 with recognition for the Mike Gish Award, and in his first full calendar year, he qualified for the National Sales Achievement Award and the National Quality Award, which he has earned a number of times throughout his career (1993-1996, 2000-2001). Brad was appointed a College Unit Director in 1993, and in 1995 named as Managing Director for the Tri-Cities region. Seitzinger spent eight years as a Managing Director in eastern Tennessee before moving to the corporate headquarters in Milwaukee to take part in a leadership development program. He took the reins of Managing Director of The Auburn Hills office in Michigan in 2005, and within two years, Brad was honored to be appointed Managing Partner of Northwestern Mutual – Troy.

When he was making his career choice, Seitzinger chose Northwestern Mutual because, he says, “I saw people who were excited about what they were doing and had real purpose in their work. They had a significant impact on other’s lives while enjoying independence and the ability to earn a great income.”

With his vision to become the dominant financial planning firm in southeast Michigan, Seitzinger has focused on creating a firm that provides real balance in terms of the recommendations that it makes to its clients. Brad and his team believe in offering consistent, holistic planning solutions for their clients, assisting with risk management, wealth accumulation, estate preservation, and distribution. Since 2006, the firm has more than doubled production (from $7.8 million in 2006 to $13.7 million in 2014), and has seen an increase of 117% in participation in its internship program (29 new contracts in 2006, and 63 new contracts in 2014). The firm has seen the average revenue for his top 10% of reps raise from $471,785 in 2007 ($325,703 for his top 25%) to more than $845,240 for his top 10% of reps (544,126 for his top 25%) in 2014. “Our success is due to our strong, values-driven culture and the high caliber of people that find it attractive,” Seitzinger says.

In 2014, understanding the significance of corporate culture in attracting and retaining the very best talent, Seitzinger and his team added 58 professional financial representatives. “We look for those that have a track record of success, have a strong work ethic, and wish to create the best lives for their clients, themselves and their family,” Seitzinger says. “The right candidate shares the firm’s values of integrity, growth, excellence, and community, and aspires to exceed expectations.” Under Brad’s guidance, financial representatives have seen success in having three bronze runners up for first year annual revenues, see Forum qualifiers grow from two to six, Lives Leaders jump from four to 20, and proudly include 40 Pacesetters.

Seitzinger says Northwestern Mutual differentiates itself because of its corporate culture, integrity, mutuality, and its commitment to doing what is best for its clients. This, coupled with the firm’s strong reputation and financial strength, has allowed Northwestern Mutual to grow and become a leader in the life insurance industry. Northwestern Mutual – Troy has more than 102,000 policies in force, with a face amount in excess of $20 billion. In 2014, eligible policyowners received more than $70 million in dividends.

Perhaps one of the biggest testaments to Seitzinger’s thriving culture is the firm’s internship program being recognized as one of the Top 10 nationally in the Vault Guide to Internships. “I believe a strong culture supports strategy,” Brad notes. “And by sharing our story, it will become clearer to others that we are a unique and attractive place to build a career in financial planning.”

With a philanthropic mindset, Northwestern Mutual – Troy is proud to support efforts that benefit children in its community. Seitzinger and his team have partnered with DMC’s Children’s Hospital to deliver boxes of cheer to all hospital-bound children, participate in local fund-raising activities to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand and the fight against pediatric cancer, and assist annually with United Way efforts. These organizations, as well as a number of charities with which the firm’s representatives work and serve, will benefit from the company’s interest in and promotion of community service.

Brad and his wife, Jill, along with their children, Claire and Eli, happily reside in Oakland County along with their two dogs, Bella and Orvis. Brad is an avid angler, a devoted family man, and an insightful board member for both Notre Dame Preparatory and the FCA.
